Suzuki Piano Teachers *Central*

Suzuki Piano Method pedagogy, Suzuki Piano Method teaching points, Suzuki Piano repertory, and other Suzuki Piano related topics are the primary focus of this highly specialized site, Suzuki Piano Teachers CentralTM, the online resource created for Suzuki Piano teaching professionals and produced by the Suzuki Music Academy.

The Suzuki Piano Method

The Suzuki Piano Method, created at Shinichi Suzuki's Talent Education Institute, is a natural extension of the Suzuki Method, first applied to violin study. The same Suzuki Method principles developed for violin were ingeniously applied to the piano. The resulting pedagogical system for piano has produced stunning results.

There have been a number of important teachers who contributed to the development of the Suzuki Method. One of the best known, Haruko Kataoka, credited as the co-founder of the Suzuki Piano Method, enjoys the status of major proponent of Suzuki Piano School.

By virtue of her essential role in the development of the Suzuki Piano Method and her tireless effort to train and inspire Suzuki Method Piano teachers, Kataoka sen-sei has won the respect and gratitude of Suzuki Piano teachers throughout the world. Her teachings and authoritative recorded performances of the Suzuki Piano School will continue to serve those who engage in Suzuki Piano study for generations to come.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

I wish to acknowledge help and inspiration I have received from Cathy Hargrave Williams, Bruce Anderson, Jay Gilbertson, and Carol Sykes, superb and dedicated Suzuki Method teachers who have helped me to maintain my connection with Suzuki. Also, Yuko Mori, Mitsumasa Denda, Haruko Kataoka, Toshio Takahashi, and other teachers based at the authoritative Talent Education Institute, in Matsumoto, Japan. I have learned much from these teachers. They represent the best of examples of the best teaching.

Rhonda Harrison Shimano, an outstanding Suzuki Method teacher, knew and worked closely with Suzuki for years, is also on the list of superb and dedicated teachers who have carried out Suzuki's work, and deserves special acknowledgment for her generosity and for the guidance she has given, over the years.

This site is dedicated to the teachers, mentioned above, and to Shinichi Suzuki, Haruko Kataoka, and their colleagues, whose work has dramatically raised the standard of classical music education.
